HOW TO CHOOSE CRIMINAL LAWYER:

DVR Hidden Camera: Prosecuting Criminals For Decades - By: Paul Wise

Self-defense is a part of everyday life and for any and all environments, too. It is when you believe that only bad neighborhoods are dangerous that you can get into the most danger. Because today crime doesn't stay in certain areas, in some instances it comes to you. Out in the countryside - that is to say, in the middle of nowhere - it is probably equally as dangerous, because any help would only be available in a police department that is miles away. This is why equipping your home a with DVR Hidden Camera or yourself with a taser is a good idea.

Guns are certainly not the right answer as they pose a threat to the owner as well as innocent bystanders. With a Hidden Camera DVR you can catch criminals in the act without any harm. This way you will also have proof in case of a trial. Furthermore guns need to be licensed by the state or city and may be difficult to purchase due to the high costs. They also need to be properly maintained and safely stored, and require practice to retain the necessary expertise in their use. With a DVR Hidden Camera set up is very simple and there is not maintenance required. Point it wherever you like and the camera does the rest.

If you believe arming yourself is still necessary then tasers are available for personal security. These are electric weapons that temporarily stun would-be criminals so you s can flee for help. They are user-friendly and powerful enough to stop the most determined of assailants. These devices can knock a criminal out for upwards of thirty minutes allowing you to stay at the scene of a crime, if necessary and wait for the police.

Though advanced instruction is never a bad idea in any in task, both a taser and DVR Hidden camera require little prior understanding. They are completely functional tools that require little to no servicing and are the complete package, when together, for self defense. While taser regulations differ depending on the city, county or state a Hidden Camera is always legal to keep an eye on your home or property.

So long as these tools are used for safety, protection and surveillance, there is never a reason to second guess such a purchase. While tasers can keep you safe the DVR Hidden Camera can be the proof you need to send a criminal to prison.

P.I.S hunting the ‘Invisible’ ID thieves - By: jacksmith

Identity theft is the UK’s fastest growing crime – yet conviction rates are shockingly low. Now one company is setting private investigators on the trail of criminals who cost our economy £1.7 billion a year.

Fraudlock, Britain’s leading identity protection service, is hiring detectives to pursue the ‘invisible’ perpetrators and give their victims closure.

White collar crime is notoriously difficult to bring to prosecution, involving criminal networks that span different parts of the country and can reach overseas. The simplicity of ID theft – often as easy as filling out an online application – and its profitability have contributed to its incredible rise.

Charlie Scott, Fraudlock founder, says:"The UK’s attitude to ID thieves is often the equivalent of finding a burglar halfway out of your window with your telly, making them put it back and then saying: ‘On your way.’ This is something people discover to their great shock when they become a victim. Banks seem to have little interest in thoroughly following up fraudulent transactions. And if the victim of a crime is in one part of the country and the perpetrator in another, it’s very time-consuming for police to unravel. It tends to get batted back and forth with no clear responsibility from one force.

"We promise our clients that when there’s enough of a lead to go on, we won’t stop when they have their money back - we’ll fund a personal investigator to try to find the person or people responsible. Until you’ve had your identity stolen and spent hours sorting the mess out, fending off intimidating debt collection agencies and unable to get a mortgage or a loan, you can’t quite appreciate how personal it feels. It’s the final blow when you’re told the culprit’s probably never going to be brought to justice."

Any pertinent information uncovered in a Fraudlock-funded investigation will be passed to the police.

Charlie adds: "It’s very likely that anyone committing identity fraud is going to be a repeat offender, and the money they’ve made will be funding all kinds of other criminal activity. It’s vital we start fighting back and we’re pleased to play our part."

FraudLock offers comprehensive, proactive protection from fraud for £6.99 a month. While banks monitor unusual transactions and reimburse account holders if their money is stolen in this way, there’s no monitoring service or similar protection for credit card and loan fraud, which can run into the tens of thousands. Often, victims only discover what’s happened when the debt recovery process is many months down the line – and the effects can be severe.

Methods of obtaining confidential personal data include mailbox theft and re-direction, phishing, spyware, skimming, corporate data breaches, invasion of social networking sites and refuse diving.

Criminal Defense Attorney - By: brain brainjohn

A person who is being charged with a crime has inherent rights and is protected by applicable provisions of the constitution. It is also important to remember that there are legal procedures that must be followed when charging a person for a criminal offense and the general principle is basically from state to state.

Your proper appreciation of the legal options and the protection of your constitutional rights are the primary concern of a Cincinnati criminal defense attorney. When facing a situation as serious as a criminal case, it is essential that you know when it is time to get the services of a Cincinnati criminal defense lawyer.

One can face a criminal case even before an arrest is implemented. Under this particular scenario, a magistrate or judge authorizes the arrest of a person being charged with a criminal offense with the issuance of an arrest warrant. Police authorities will implement the arrest warrant by locating the person being charged with the offense.

The procedure for the implementation of the arrest warrant requires that the person being arrested is furnished with a copy of the arrest order. It is important to understand that the authorities are not required to have a copy of the arrest warrant in order to implement the order. However, they are required to furnish him a copy of the order for his arrest within a reasonable period of time lest they be penalized for illegal arrest. At this juncture, the person who is subject of the arrest warrant should seek the advice of a criminal defense lawyer.

Once the person is arrested, he undergoes the booking procedure. This involves the documentation process where the fingerprinting and other procedural requirements are done by police authorities. The arrested person is given the chance to talk to his attorney while the booking procedure is being done. While the person is in police custody, he is allowed to talk to a domestic violence lawyer. The arrested person will remain in the custody of the police until the court hearing is arranged and such court hearing must be done within 48 hours from the time the person is arrested. It is very important for the arrested person to have the opportunity of talking to his attorney especially before the court hearing is done.

The person being charged with the criminal offense will be asked by the judge to enter a plea after being presented with the specific charges filed against him in court. The plea can either be guilty, no contest or not guilty. If the defendant chooses not to enter any plea, the court, through the judge shall enter a not guilty plea in his behalf.

Notwithstanding the circumstances of the charged person, he may choose to enter a not guilty plea especially when he thinks that the evidence against him would not be sufficient enough to prove his guilt beyond reasonable doubt. In which case, the court will proceed to hear the case in order to establish whether the person can be convicted or acquitted of the crime that he is being charged with.

How To Choose Your Houston Criminal Lawyer When Accused Of Sexual Crimes - By: John Michael

One of the most draconian laws that are there in Houston, Texas is regarding sexual offences. Most severe punishments are handed to people who are found guilty of sexual assault, aggressive sexual assault or sexual crime against minor. People have been sentenced for life or more than 18 years in some cases. Not only that, even if someone is sentenced for lesser time, they will forever be stigmatized because now they will be a registered sex offender. Wherever they go, they will have to report that to the nearest police station and potentially be suspected whenever a sexual crime occurs in that area!

So if you have been accused or questioned regarding a sexual crime in the Houston, Texas area, it is natural that you will be thinking the worse. But remember, you are innocent until proven guilty. The court will only sentence you when your crime is proved beyond a reasonable doubt. Hence, no matter how tight the case against you seems to be, if you hire a competent Houston criminal lawyer, he or she will find ways to prove that the evidence may be wrong. Also there are many other issues to consider. For example, what was the relationship between the accused and the victim? It has been proven that often sexual assault cases turn out to be nothing more than a way of getting back at the accused by the victim. Sometime child custody cases are the reason someone is accused of sexual crimes - especially in case of child sexual abuse.

Evidence like DNA can be contaminated by human error or in other ways. These things do happen so don’t let the police make you believe that all the evidences is against you and you have no option but to confess to your crime. No matter what they say, don’t say a single word without the presence of your Houston attorney. Even things that you think may prove that you are innocent, can be used in a court of law against you! It is your right to have a lawyer and exercise this right as soon as possible.

Hence you see that there are many sides of a case. So when you choose your Houston attorney, choose someone who is ready to go through all avenues to extricate you from the accusation. He or she should know that even DNA tests and results can be challenged as a simple human error can turn an innocent into a criminal. Similarly, he should be aware of all the process that was used in collecting evidences so that he can challenge any irregularity or find loopholes in the prosecution’s case.

In this account, you will not find a better lawyer than John. M Petruzzi to defend you in sexual assault cases in Houston, Texas. Why, because he has practiced law in Harris County for more than 28 years and is a former Harris County prosecutor. Needless to say, he knows the system inside and out. He knows where things can go wrong and find ways to raise doubts in the mind of the juries and judge regarding your case. Since he has been on the other side, he will know what arguments the public prosecutor is likely to state. Based on that, he will create his case in such a way that you get the maximum chance of winning your freedom..

Sexual crime accusations can ruin your life. So don’t delay a moment if you find yourself facing such a crime in Houston, Texas, call Mr. John M. Petruzzi immediately.

Recession Drives Innovation in Criminal Underworld - By: jacksmith

With the UK economy starting to show glimmers of recovery, the recession has taught us many lessons. Unfortunately, criminals have learnt new tricks over the past few years and at the top of the statistics is identity theft.

There are two main types of fraud:

Identity Fraud is the use of stolen (or completely false) identity to obtain goods or services such as loans, mortgages or credit cards, sometimes referred to as new line of credit applications.

Account (facility) Takeover is typically when a criminal gathers information about the intended victim, and then contacts the financial institution(s) pretending to be the genuine cardholder. Funds can then be transferred out of the account, the address changed and replacement cards ordered.

Growth in account takeover has been affected by the recession – as financial institutions limited new line of credit, fraudsters turned to existing accounts. CIFAS, the UK’s fraud prevention service has reported that application fraud has decreased by nearly a quarter in the first nine months of 2009. However, as the recession subsides, it is almost certain the new line of credit applications will increase, creating more opportunities for criminals.

In the same period there has been a total increase in the total number of identity fraud cases reported by CIFAS to over 72,000, and a 36% increase in the number of victims of impersonation to over 59,000. This form of crime is expected to rise significantly over the next 5 years.

FraudLock, founded at the beginning of the year has, offers an ID protection service for UK individuals for a minimal monthly subscription or one-off annual fee. For this, members get unlimited access to their credit reports, statement reminders and black market monitoring as some of the 12 benefits - it is currently the most comprehensive protection available in the UK.

CEO, Charlie Scott comments: “Identity fraud is a particularly vicious crime and can happen to anyone. Unfortunately the message is still not getting across as to the growing number of victims and the severity of the damage that can be caused.” In a survey conducted by Lloyds TSB, 76% of adults are concerned about identity theft however 57% of these admitted they have not done enough to protect themselves and 25% did not know how.

He added, “It is the common attitude that ‘it won’t happen to me’ but when it does, it is destructive and extremely time consuming to resolve.”

Thankfully, the industry of ID protection is getting more media coverage as a result of the increasing number of crimes. Each day there are more and more stories in the news, so with this in mind it is hoped that UK individuals are will become more proactive and will take the right steps to protect their identity.

Recession has shifted the fraudulent criminal landscape, but whatever the future holds for the UK economy, whilst these types of crime are being made easy with litter chance of prosecution, ID theft and ID fraud will surely continue to grow.

Identity Theft – Informative - By: jacksmith

Today, there is more to us that just a name, a face and a personality. As we go through life, it not just people we meet that get to know who we are, but also financial institutions who you deal with.

Think about how many financial or personal documents you have:
Utility bills, passports, credit cards, bank statements and driving licences – these can in certain respects determine who we are, and are valuable in they fall into the wrong hands.

CIFAS, the UK's fraud prevention service defines identity theft as: "…the misappropriation of the identity (such as the name, date, of birth, current address or previous address) of another person without their knowledge or consent. These identity details are then used to obtain goods and services in that persons name"

Recent trends have shown that there is now a huge increase in the cases of identity theft. The insurer Liverpool Victoria predicts that the number of homeowners being burgled specifically for their personal documents is set to soar in the next five years. In 2008, 1 in 7 burglaries were carried out for the sole purpose of identity theft, with three quarters of burglary victims having some or all of the documents listed stolen.

Individual documents can change hands for around £15 on the black market, with ‘bundles’ reaching up to £150. According to Police statistics, in 2008 there were 278,000 burglaries. 25% of these resulted in some form of identity theft – that is a staggering 71,750 victims. Also, figures show that 94% of handbags, wallets and purses contain at least one form of personal identity.

In research conducted by Lloyds TSB:

76% of adults are concerned about identity theft
52% of those concerned about identity theft believe the recession has increased the risk
57% of people believe that social networking sites have made it easier to steal personal details

So how can you minimize the risk of identity theft?

A convicted fraudster said: "so many people make my job easy by sticking all the key documents together in one place. And for all the family too, so you often get three of four identities for the price of one..."

You can never be totally sure that your documents are safe, however you should ensure your home has adequate security measures.

Also, with the huge advent of social networking sites such as Facebook, you should be very selective about what information you share on such sites.

Preventing Identity Theft Problems - By: Connie Rosen

Identity Theft is the largest white collar crime today. The American Federal Trade Commission projects that within the next year, one out of every six people will have their identity stolen. With numbers like these it’s crucial that every one of us try to protect ourselves in any and every way possible.

Identity Theft can take many forms. In each form, it can have devastating effects.

One form of identity theft is when someone steals your drivers license. They can pose as you for any number of things including criminal activity. They could even use it to commit medical identity theft. Medical identity theft is when someone poses as you and checks themselves into the hospital. This can alter critical medical records like blood type, leaving you with a whopping medical bill, and in danger if you ever come in needing a blood transfusion! In one case a woman checked herself into the hospital, had a baby and left. The baby was found to be addicted to cocaine. Child Services came to the innocent woman who’s identity had been stolen and threatened to take away her children! It is extremely difficult to clear up the mess when this happens, because if you call the hospital and tell them it wasn’t you, they will lock down your medical files because of the HIP law.

Another form of Identity Theft is when someone steals your social security number. The thief can use your social security number in lots of ways. They can use it to commit financial identity theft by opening credit cards in your name. They can use it to pose as you at work. This would leave you with their tax bill. In one famous case, a woman’s social security number was stolen and subsequently sold to a number of illegal aliens for five dollars a piece at a flea market. Until this day the government will not issue her a new social security number, and the nightmares she has with the IRS are not to be believed.

So protecting yourself from identity theft is very important. Unfortunately there is no fool proof method. This is partly because not all of it is in your hands. If you own property, your social security number is on the internet. Credit card companies and banks may be lax in where they leave their garbage containing your important information. Thieves can go through garbage on the street, steal mail from your mailbox, take pictures of your information from far away with a zoom lens, swipe your credit card into a scanner when you pay at a restaurant…. and those are just some methods for obtaining someone’s personal information.

The average person spends 600 hours and $1200 repairing their credit. It’s a huge hassle and very frustrating. The thieves usually get away scott free. So although it isn’t possible to prevent it from happening, don’t make it easy for them either! For more information and tips on how to prevent identity theft problems, you may want to check out this website: Preventing Identity Theft Problems

The best way to prevent these problems from happening to you, is to take action before it happens. There is only one company that I know of that not only monitors your credit for you, but in the case of a stolen identity, they restore your credit to the way it was before it was ruined! Not only that, but they go after the thieves to put them behind bars.

How To Prevent Identity Theft - By: Sherry Tingley

Normally people with good credit are more frequently victims of identity theft.
You might notice you have been turned down for credit or your credit cards may have been rejected. The bad thing is that most of the damage has already been done by the time you discover this.

Almost anyone is vulnerable to identity theft. In fact these scammers have gathered about $4 billion from stealing personal information alone.

How do you prevent yourself from being a victim of identity theft? Here are a few tips:

Tip 1: Never Share Information

Do not share your personal information such as your address, your full name, your age and your birth date with people you do not know. Do not share your credit card number or your PIN to other people as well. Whatever mode of communication these scammers use, whether it's through messenger, email or over the phone, please do not believe them. Most of the time, they are not telling you the truth.

Tip 2: Think

If you suddenly won an online lottery you never really participated in, then you probably are being contacted by scammers. Most of the time, these people try to get your vital information by telling you that you need to provide credit card details or bank details so they can send you the money you won.

Tip 3: Beware of Nigerians

This is not a case of discrimination. If you think Nigerians can't dupe you because they're in Nigeria, think again. Nigerians are well known for their elaborate scams. They are usually the ones who send you messages that you won the lottery and by the time they have your information, they'd be using your credit card to make purchases online, get your money or use it for other scams. Their English is not very good and their syntax is rather different. Try to be more observant every time you receive an email or an instant message.

Tip 4: Beware of Phone Calls

Identity theft can happen on a regular phone call but most of the time Nigerian scammers use the relay service to call your home. The relay service is a US based phone call service for deaf people, it is provided for them by the government so that they are able to make regular phone calls through an interpreter. Some Nigerian scammers are able to find phone numbers to make direct calls to individuals.

They usually pretend that they are deaf and want to buy a puppy or whatever merchandise. They may get your phone number online. Even if the interpreter knows that she is facilitating a scam call, interpreters are not allowed to meddle with the calls due to FTC policies. So if you get a phone call from a supposed "deaf" person who asks you for your vital information, do not entertain the call. They will call you back but remember that the interpreter or the operator is not involved in this.

Tip 5: Shred, Shred, Shred

Shred certain items such as credit card bills you've already paid for. People can get your vital information from your trash or vital information in your computer. People may call the bank and pretend to be you and may even get to transfer money from your account to theirs.

What You Should Know To Prevent Identity Theft - By: Tony Evans

What exactly is identity theft? The most recent statistics indicate that identity theft may be the fastest growing crime in the United States. The estimated cost of this crime is more than $50 billion dollars a year, with the average loss to the victim's personal information being more than $6,000.

There are many things that you can do to help avoid being a victim of this crime. In this article we will describe things that you can do to help protect yourself as well as what to do if you become the victim of identity theft.

Purchase a shredder and tear up all unneeded financial papers. Shred all of the credit card offers you receive in the mail and do not want. Thieves often will go through your garbage, and all they must to do to obtain the card is sign your name. Do not use simple passwords when banking or conducting any financial transactions online. The best passwords are long ones, or passwords that contain a combination of numbers and letters. Don't furnish your Social Security number, credit card number, or any financial information to anyone over the phone. Banks won't ask for this information over the phone since they already have it. Don't carry your Social Security card or any seldom-used credit cards in your wallet. If you don't use them, don't carry them. Whenever you order personal checks, have as little personal information as possible printed on them. You should never put your phone number or social security number on your personal check.

If you do believe that you have become the victim of identity theft there are some things that you should do immediately. First call the fraud units of the three major credit bureaus and request a fraud alert be placed on your credit file. Next, you should report the suspected crime to your local police department. Make sure that you obtain a copy of police reports because creditors will often require confirmation that there was an alleged crime before they will conduct investigations. Next, request copies of your credit report from the credit bureaus to see if any fraudulent accounts were opened without your knowledge or. Call all creditors with whom your identify or identifying data may have been fraudulently used. Also, contact all financial institutions wherever you have accounts that an identity thief has acquired your account or where an account has been opened in your name without your knowledge. You should also place stop payment orders on any outstanding checks that have not cleared, as well as change your debit card, account, and PIN. Always document the names and phone numbers of anyone with whom you discussed your case and keep all original reports and supporting documents. You should also contact The Federal Trade Commission, this is the federal clearinghouse for identity theft protection and identity theft prevention. The many complaints about identity theft that the Commission receives assist it, and many other law enforcement agencies, track down, investigate and prosecute identity thieves. You can file a complaint with the FTC by contacting the Consumer Response Center by phone. If you determine that you are the victim of identity theft do not panic, but remember some of the guidelines mentioned in this article.

Identity Theft - Are You Letting The Thieves Get Away With It? - By: John Rasor

How often do you check your credit report? For far too many consumers the answer will be "Only when I want a loan." That means that identity thieves can use your credit and your good reputation for months or even years before you discover their activities.

You might not notice at all until you find your bank account empty. Or, you may receive a notice from the IRS denying your tax refund because it has already been paid - or worse, asking why you didn't report ALL of your income for the year.

The fact is, over ten million consumers were victimized by identity theft in 2008, and experts predict that the number will be greater for 2009. Not only are the thieves draining bank accounts and running up huge balances on credit cards, they're using other people's identities to rent homes, gain employment, and access health insurance.

You can't insulate yourself from it, but you can nip it in the bud and prevent the thief from continuing to use your identity month after month.

I just read about a typical case when a woman wrote an on-line forum to share her distress. She asked if anyone else had been victimized as she had. I wrote back and said "Yes, about ten million per year."

She had gone on line to check her bank balance and found that while her house payment and her insurance payment were set to come out automatically, there was no money there to cover them. She was frantic, because she had no "extra" money to put into the account to cover those expenses.

It turned out that when she went back through the transactions, she found that the theft had begun several months ago, and was ongoing.

Why had she not looked at her bank account for several months? Had she balanced her statement when it arrived, she'd have seen transactions that were not hers and stopped the theft in its tracks. Every consumer should check every bank statement and credit card statement as soon as it arrives.

In addition, everyone should keep a careful eye on his or her credit report. Activity such as a new account, a jump in the balance of an old account, a balance on an account you believe is inactive, a new job, or a change of address will alert you to a theft before it gets completely out of hand.

Check your credit report today - and check all the statements from your banks and credit cards every time they arrive.

Credit Freezing an Anti-Identity Theft Measure to Consider - By: John Rasor

Keeping your credit report available to retailers, landlords, and potential employers means that it is also available to identity thieves.

Why do they want it? For one thing, so they can see if you have unused credit card accounts. If so, it's a simple thing for a skilled thief to submit a change of address to that card issuer and begin using your card without your knowledge.

And of course, a thief with your identity can do all the usual things that trigger a credit check. For instance, they can borrow money to buy a car or open a new credit card account in your name; they can rent a house in your name; and they can apply for a job using your good credit.

The benefits of a credit freeze are obvious, so what are the drawbacks? Primarily, you'll have to plan ahead if you want to use your own credit. Instant credit for an unplanned purchase won't be possible. Of course, that could be a good thing for consumers who are trying to cut down on impulse buying.

It can also become expensive if you freeze and thaw regularly.

At present, each bureau charges $10 each time you freeze or thaw your credit report, but consumer advocates are working to reduce that fee. Ed Mierwinski, of the U.S. Public Interest Research Group is calling for a one-time fee of $5 or less, saying that this should be like a security lock on your house. You buy it once and use it without further cost.

If you have already become a victim of identity theft, the fee is waived.

Freezing your credit report prevents all that, and since last November, it is an option available to consumers from all 3 of the major credit bureaus. Each bureau has different systems for freezing a credit report. Equifax and TransUnion require a written request, but consumers can place a freeze with Experian by going on line.

To thaw your report at Experian you can call, write, or go on line, while Equifax provides a toll-free number and TransUnion will accept a temporary thaw by phone or mail, but a permanent thaw must be requested in writing.

A credit freeze should not be confused with a fraud alert, which can be placed on your credit report files at no charge, but only lasts for 90 days. This is a safety feature for those who have lost a wallet or who otherwise fear that their identity has been compromised.

Identity Theft "Red Flag Rules" Raise Ire of AMA - By: John Rasor

No one wants to be the target of identity theft, and yet, despite consumer awareness and prevention practices, in 2008 ten million people were victimized. It seems like everyone should be overjoyed at programs to curb this threat from the creditor's side.

Not so. Some organizations, such as the American Medical Association, feel that their members should be exempt from developing and implementing written identity theft prevention and detection measures.

Resistance from the AMA has been so strong that the deadline for putting the Red Flag Rules into practice has been delayed 3 times since it's inception in November 2007. The new deadline is November 2009.

Banks and other credit issuing entities also object to monitoring the 26 red flags designed to prevent anyone from using another person's identity - for gaining credit, for getting a job, for renting an apartment, or for obtaining medical care under another's insurance policy.

Why? They feel that the new rules are "excessive and overly burdensome." Huge banks will probably have no trouble with compliance, but smaller organizations without a large staff may have to hire 3rd party companies to carry out this function. Either way, implementing the Red Flag rules will cut into profits.

One objection from the AMA is that physicians should not be classified as "creditors," even though they grant credit when they accept payments for care, or when they wait for payment until an insurance company responds to billings.

Lawmakers are not heeding this argument, because they are particularly concerned with "medical identity theft." Not only can thieves obtain medical care using someone else's insurance, the resultant medical records could be medically dangerous to the person whose identity was stolen.

Coming into compliance will definitely prevent "instant credit," because checking some of the 26 Red Flags will require a little research. First, it will be necessary to obtain and actually read a credit report. The first red flag will be the inability to obtain that report due to a credit freeze. Next would be a fraud alert placed on the report.

From there, credit issuers will need to examine the report for inconsistencies when compared to the application for credit. Some, such as checking the borrowers social security number against his date of birth, will require further effort.

To read the entire list of 26 Red Flag Triggers, visit Bankrate.com http://www.bankrate.com/brm/news/Financial_Literacy/identity_theft/red_flags_a1.asp?caret=92g

Meanwhile, since the rules are not yet in effect, check your own credit report today... You could be a victim and not even know it.

Lionheart Assurance Fraud Prevention Toolkit: How to Avoid Identity Theft Scams - By: Lionheart Assurance Solutions

Discovering how to avoid identity theft scams is a serious priority for Web users, especially those that transact business online. In a bid to protect themselves from phishing and other types of online scams, however, many individuals are being duped by companies that claim to sell protection against identity theft. Some of these companies claim that they can guarantee that you will not become an identity theft victim, or fall victim to pesky scammers on the Internet. Most experts agree it is impossible to make such an unbelievable claim, and that the consumer should instead be looking for services that focus on two primary objectives; early detection (to minimize damage and increase the likelihood of catching the criminal) and a thorough restoration of the victim's identity to pre-theft status by experienced professionals. There are legitimate companies that provide effective identity theft detection and full restoration services, and it is up to the consumer to become educated before choosing a service.

Practically speaking, there are some simple things you can do to identify and avoid potential identity theft issues. Vigilance and a little common sense are two of the most important things to practice in learning how to avoid identity theft scams. Specifically, you need to be proactive in learning the latest ways in which criminals rip-off users on the open Internet. Always be in the loop about security issues and invest in a good software that will be able to fend off viruses, spyware and malware that can be embedded in your email.

Another way to avoid becoming a victim of such scams is to coordinate with your bank or credit card provider to be sure that they have adequate precautions in place to protect both your money and your identity. For example, some institutions offer phone call verification procedures that can serve as an extra layer of protection when substantial transactions take place on your accounts. Asking your bank and credit card providers what arrangements they have in place to protect you as a consumer is an important practice in learning how to avoid identity theft scams.

There are other ways in which crooks can secure personal information from you and use such data for their shady dealings. One type of identity theft becoming more common today involves health care. In this scenario, a criminal steals your personal information and it is subsequently used to secure medical coverage. This could cause incorrect medical information to be added to your Medical Information Bureau files, potentially leading to life-threatening mis-diagnoses and future denials of coverage. This kind of identity theft is very costly to insurance companies, which raises everyone's premiums. Fraud alerts are of no value with this type of identity theft, because your credit report is not involved. In addition, a high degree of expertise is required to clean up these kinds of identity theft issues.

Learning about how to avoid identity theft scams is becoming increasingly vital in today's high tech world of light-speed information sharing. While we can certainly educate ourselves and minimize the risk of becoming a victim, it is wise to find reputable companies to help with early detection and identity restoration expertise. In this day and age, failing to have these relatively low cost services in place would make about as much sense as driving without car insurance. With identity theft now officially America's fastest growing crime, it's not if we'll need these services it's when.

Protect identity theft - By: reliacredit

In order to keep your finances and your credit report protected, it is important to take certain steps to protect yourself against identity theft. Unfortunately, thousands of people become victims of identity theft every year and trying to clean up the mess can be a difficult and time-consuming process. Credit cards are among the most popular tools that thieves use to get their hands on information from unsuspecting victims. With these simple tips, however, you can reduce your risks significantly.

Tip #1: Do not Carry Too Many Credit Cards

Some people carry all of their credit cards and debit cards with them everywhere they go. This leaves you open to having all of your accounts compromised if your wallet or purse gets lost or stolen. Instead, carry only one or two credit cards with you and your ATM card if necessary. It is also a good idea to leave debit cards at home, as they provide thieves with instant access to your checking account and they do not provide you with the same identity theft protection as credit cards.

Tip #2: Do not Let Your Credit Card or Debit Card Out of Your Site

Many identity thieves steal your account information easily and quickly by simply swiping your card through a special device called a skimmer. This is generally most common with waiters and waitresses when they take your credit card from your table and to the register in order to pay your bill. With your credit card information successfully stolen, the thief can then have an online shopping spree or even make a counterfeit credit card using your account information.

Tip #3: Photocopy All of Your Credit Cards and Accounts

As soon as you get a new credit card, debit card, or account statement, make a photocopy and store them in a secure place other than your purse or wallet. Make certain to photocopy the account numbers, the customer service telephone number, and the expiration dates. This way, the information is easy to find if your cards become lost or stolen or if your accounts are used in a fraudulent manner.

Tip #4: Hang on to Credit Card Receipts

When paying for items with a credit card or debit card, never through the receipt in the trash. Part of your credit card information will be contained on the card and, in some cases, your entire account number may be printed on the receipt. Instead, put the receipt in your purse or wallet where it is safe and then make sure the receipts match up with your monthly statement when it arrives.

Tip #5: Do not Give Out Information Over the Phone

Unless you initiated the phone call and you are talking to a trusted business, never give out your credit card information over the telephone. Many thieves call their victims directly and can tell very convincing stories – they may even already have some of your personal information – but you still should not give out information. If the caller claims to be from one of your credit card companies, hang up and call the customer service number on the back of your card to check on your account.

Identity Theft Could Steal Your Credit Rating - By: John Rasor

If you aren't checking your credit report regularly, "you" could be wracking up bills and late payments that will plunge your credit scores to the bottom of the barrel.

Identity thieves have two primary methods of using your identity that will quickly destroy your financial reputation: Using your existing credit cards and Opening new credit accounts.

You've read that you shouldn't close unused credit card accounts because the more available and unused credit you have, the better your credit rating. That's true, but owning that credit card you don't use could cause you a lot of grief if you aren't careful.

Smart thieves check credit reports - and if they have your identity, all they have to do is find an account you aren't using and have "your" address changed. Next, they'll report a lost or damaged card and ask to have a new one issued - in your name, at "your" new address.

They may well use it and make the minimum payments for a short while. They may even look like model customers for a while, until the cash advance checks begin to arrive. Then, after they've taken the card to the limit, they'll quit paying.

Meanwhile, since you weren't using that card, you didn't expect a monthly statement, so you didn't notice.

You might notice, however, because soon your other credit card issuers will begin reducing your credit lines - damaging your credit score even further.

Thieves, with your personal information in hand, can also open new accounts - even purchase new cars or buy a home full of new furniture.

So what can you do to protect yourself? Several things: Keep a list of all your accounts. Get set up to check each account - including your bank accounts - on line Check those accounts regularly Order your free credit report right now, and sign up for updates Enroll in an alert service, so you know when anyone makes an inquiry or there's a change to any of the information on your credit report - such as your address.

Identity Theft protection has become a necessity just like auto and medical insurance. Its for those events in life that you can't afford like suddenly finding out you've got $100,000 in consumer debt that you had no knowledge of.

In our electronic world it is impossible to completely prevent identity theft, but you can take steps to catch it quickly and prevent it from turning your life into a nightmare.

Forensic Crime Evidence Recovery - By: xpertz

The role of forensic science in criminal investigations is more important today than ever. There are many different types of forensic disciplines that are used to help police and other officials answer these questions. These include criminalistics, forensic psychology, forensic pathology and others. Forensic science is the study of all evidence available to identify a subject. It refers to identifying a victim at a crime scene and an individual that was present at the scene and may be a suspect or material witness. A successful crime investigation depends upon the collection and analysis of various kinds of evidence. Performing a forensic investigation is a long and complicated process. Every inch of a crime scene needs to be processed, starting with collecting finger print evidence from every inch of the crime scene.
A crime scene investigator reconstructs the crime scene, analyzing evidence and carefully documenting each one of their findings. If only one piece of evidence is documented incorrectly, it could put the whole criminal case in jeopardy, potentially setting a criminal free to run the streets. They are trained in what to look for and how to test the evidence. Even the smallest piece of dust or a single hair can yield a wealth of information to a trained investigator. A single hair found at a crime scene can literally tell the investigator if they are looking for a male or female, or if the hair belongs to an animal.
One major distinction is between physical and biological evidence. Physical evidence refers to any item that comes from a nonliving origin, while biological evidence always originates from a living being. The most important kinds of physical evidence are fingerprints, footprints, fibers, paint, and building materials. Biological evidence includes bloodstains and DNA. Trace evidence are items like hair and fibers. Impression evidence is items like foot prints and fingerprints. Along with firearms, tool marks, fingerprints, and footwear, the analysis of tire marks is a key area within the forensic discipline of impression evidence. Tire Tread and Tire Track Evidence presents practical methods for recovering, examining, and interpreting this evidence within the context of actual case studies.
The role of forensics is to provide that level of evidence to investigators who then combine it with other evidence they've obtained such as statements from witnesses and victims and possibly a confession from the defendant. Perhaps the most recognized form of forensic investigation is DNA testing. This testing is done by testing physical evidence such as secretions or blood from a crime scene and testing it to determine if it belongs to the victim.
So it is very important to keep the evidence safe used in the criminal activity with the help of some advanced forensic products. As it is required to undergo rigorous quality checks at every stage of production to ensure no contamination is present that might jeopardize potentially vital evidence found at the scene of crime.
A lot of innocent victim gets freedom after investigation proved that they were no way connected with the crime.

Credit, Identity Theft, and The New "Red Flags Rule" - By: John Rasor

Credit has been under attack lately, and in a state of change. Thus, the new "Red Flags Rule" that went into effect on May 1.

This rule directs car dealers to play "snoop" in order to prevent ID theft. So, if you apply for a loan to buy a car - new or used - the dealer may ask you questions that you feel are none of his or her business.

For instance: "Do you always use your middle initial?" "What's the balance on your American Express Card?" These are questions designed to trick someone who isn't you.

Here's how: They ask about the American Express Card because your credit report shows you don't have one. That's something you would know, but a thief probably wouldn't know. So if "you" stutter and say you aren't sure, because your spouse is the one who keeps track of such things, it's a clear sign that "you" aren't you.

Dealers are also looking for other inconsistencies, such as a name and address on your application that doesn't match your driver's license or the address listed in your credit report.

Dealers will now be required to document the steps they've taken to assure that the person buying the car is the same person whose credit is being used for the car loan - or lease. If they fail to do so, they will be subject to fines.

So that you don't become suspect when using your own credit, make sure to take these steps:

If you move, be sure to notify all of your accounts and get your driver's license updated. If you move to a different state, get a new driver's license in the new state Check the photo on your driver's license - if it doesn't look like you, either request a new photo or take along additional photo ID that does look like you. Driver's license photos are notoriously bad to begin with - but if you've changed your hair color, shaved off a beard or moustache, lost or gain weight, or have just recovered from a long illness, the picture might not resemble you at all.

Use of stolen identity at car dealerships is relatively rare - but now that the definition of "financial institution" has been expanded to include any business that includes loans and leases, dealerships are subject to the same regulations as other financial institutions. Your credit's your life, treat it as such.

Mothers Without Custody: Grieving the Loss of Your Stolen Children - By: Dr Jeanne King PhD

One of the most crippling life losses is the loss of a child to legal domestic abuse. Routinely, we are approached by women denied access to their children and grandchildren because of the whim of former abusive partners or family members.

The pain they bear is beyond words. So, I won't pretend to suggest we can actually capture the depths of their despair in this article. But I will tell you some of what they say and of what I know firsthand.

1) At first, there is the utter disbelief. "How can this be?" they exclaim.

2) Often there is a vacillation between the denial and the waves of rage beyond anything ever experienced.

3) For many, it's a vacillation between disbelief and a sorrow so deep it pulls one to their knees, to the ground wailing in tears and cries from every fiber of their being.

4) The worst part of this experience is the mental blaming they do to themselves and the internalization of the heinous crime perpetrated upon them.

5) Many refuse to let the grieving in and remain focused on their pursuits to reunite with their children or grandchildren.

6) Some remain in the ring of warfare determined not to let go until death due us part.

There is no right or wrong way to be relative to the horrific loss of a child to improper legal maneuvering. There is only the fact—the reality that it is. And it is not uncommon.

I've heard shelter directors from coast to coast claim that at least one battered woman faces this loss at any point in time in each domestic violence shelter.

I have known women say the burden they bear is worse than the death of a child. They declare that death would bring closure; whereas, their loss leaves an open wound that continues to ooze on and on, again and again.

How one copes with this is as individual as those facing it. I walked this path a decade ago. As I'm approaching the ten year anniversary of my breaking free from legal domestic abuse, I will say being on this end is heaven compared to that hell.

The fortunate thing about time is that it allows space for change, for transformation, for growth for you and your estranged offspring. And now, here is the good part. You are always their parent and they know.

My hope for you if you are living this nightmare is that your day will come when you re-unite with your children, as doing so will complete your grieving cycle like nothing else. Trust me, I know.

If you walk this path, I urge you to find ways to heal within. The sooner you do, the more of you will be there available once your little ones come reaching back to you.

Finding a good criminal defense lawyer in Denver - By: Natheen Imesh

In my experience, finding a good criminal defense lawyer in Denver can be difficult, here are some suggestions of resources I have found useful:

Referrals – If you were arrested and incarcerated, then obviously what better crowd to ask for referrals. It seems inmates always know which criminal defense attorneys are worthwhile and which are not. This is not the absolute best source for referrals, but I do find more value here than asking an attorney for a referral. I don’t want to be referred to an attorney just because they played golf with the attorney I asked for the referral from. However, if you do already work with an attorney or lawyer in Denver
that you trust, than this would absolutely be an excellent place to start for a solid referral.

Courtroom Observation – Before you discount this one, stop and think. Doesn’t it make sense that you would watch an attorney in the courtroom and see how they handle themselves? I have found an excellent attorney by just going to court and watching several cases.
Directories – There are several competent law directories with excellent attorneys for all different sectors of law practice. If you are going to utilize a directory to locate your attorney then it is imperative that you interview a couple of different attorneys so that you are making an informed decision. Seems to make sense right? Again, I have heard over and over again, “We went with the first attorney we met with, he/she seemed capable”. Don’t get lazy, talk with a couple of different attorneys and make certain that you are happy with your decision don’t get lazy, talk with a couple of different attorneys and make certain that you are happy with your decision. No matter what happens you will need to deal with the consequences of the case.
This is not the end all guide to hiring your Denver attorney, but a summary of some important things to consider when hiring an attorney. No matter what it is important to try and be as objective as you can and not get swallowed up with the emotions that are usually tied to a criminal case. Good advice, but usually difficult to follow. This article should not be considered legal advice and is simply a resource for those navigating their way through the many Denver Attorneys that are available.

Criminal Records Checking 101 - By: Leigh Ann Lloyd

Texas criminal Records Checks are standard procedure when due diligence research is conducted on an individual. However, even in this age of instant access to digitized information, old-fashioned investigative techniques usually must be relied upon for the research of criminal records. This segment will discuss how criminal records searches are conducted and how criminal records are maintained, court access fees in each county and how they are retrieved.

How Criminal Records Are Recorded

Crimes are usually divided into three categories; (1) Felonies, (2) Misdemeanors and (3) Infractions. Within these categories can be subdivisions, levels of severity, etc. Generally, a felony is a crime that is punishable by a sentence of 365 days or more in jail, or death.

Common felonies include: murder, theft, burglary, serious drug possession and distribution, weapons charges, rape, kidnapping, robbery, assaults, etc. A misdemeanor generally is an offense punishable by a sentence of less than 365 days in jail, and includes minor theft, minor assault, some forms of drug possession, harassment and serious motor vehicle violations. An infraction is usually a “ticket” type of offense where resolution is either paying the fine or appearing in a lower court. Infractions are not reportable offenses for employment purposes unless the case is escalated into a misdemeanor.

It is not possible to simply "plug in" someone's Social Security number into a criminal records search database and find all the criminal convictions pertaining to that individual. Criminal records are indexed by the name of the defendant. Therefore, getting the correct spelling of the name is critical to obtaining accurate criminal records report results. If the person had a former name, that name should also be included in the court records search. In those jurisdictions where the clerk of court will be performing the research, a full date of birth is usually required.

While the majority of jurisdictions have computerized their criminal records search, there are some that do not allow offsite access. Therefore, a criminal records researcher must be physically dispatched to the courthouse to search the public access terminals. Many courts will perform a free criminal records check over the phone. Most courts will respond to written requests; however, it can sometimes take weeks or even months to get the results back and this of course is unacceptable.

There are thousands of separate criminal records indexes maintained at the county, parish, township, and city levels throughout the United States. Conducting a nationwide search would require accessing each individual index. Proprietary, aggregate databases have been created to access that information in its’ raw format. AAA Credit Screening can conduct research through these databases to acquire information.
Checking for criminal court records at the county level is a primary method used by AAA. The county courthouse is where the record originated, and therefore represents the logical and accurate starting point. The information is current, which is a requirement of the Fair Credit Reporting Act for employment verification search purposes. In some counties felony and misdemeanor records are maintained in a combined index, in others felonies and misdemeanor records must be checked separately.

Identity Theft Insurance 101 - Back To The Basics - By: Jimmy4

Decreasing credit card debt and doing it before it becomes a nightmare is what this article is really about! But how can this be done? Well, the initial step is to stop the credit card debt from growing further and start paying off the existing balance. But can it really be so simple?

The answer is - no, it's not as simple as it appears. Let's face it, if things were that easy no-one would be in debt in the first place and lower debts would not be given the chance to escalate.

Information about credit card debt and how to reduce it is readily available, yet the issue still exists and doesn’t seem to improve in any way. In fact, in many ways the problem just seems to be worse than before. This is mostly due to the fact that suggestions to help people reduce credit card debt are not put to use as they should be. However, if people choose to take to heart the suggestions being offered, it is possible to lower your debt and eventually become debt free.

These days, identity theft has become an epidemic. Criminals have absolutely no hesitation in stepping in and taking you for all you are worth. They can get ahold of any ill-disposed receipts or obtain personal details such as your date of birth.

As you would expect, these identity crime specialists spend most of their resources trying to discover ways of hijacking the identities of innocent citizens. With an increasing number of individuals using the internet to complete financial transactions, their job has been made relatively easy. There is a way to protect yourself from these crimes known as identity theft insurance.

What exactly is insurance for identity theft?

This is a variety of insurance offered by companies who are specialists in protection against identity theft. More often than not, they will offer you the benefit of a promise to repay the amount lost, if their protection is compromised.

This means that they will pay you back any money you lose as a result of your credit card or bank accounts being pilfered by having your identity used without consent.

Why is this insurance needed?

Identity theft insurance is used as the main method used by many companies in order to fulfill their claims in an effort to protect| your account details from criminals.

Essentially, you pay them a premium each month and in return they ensure your accounts remain unharmed. If there is a breech of security and crooks do manage to find a way through the protective measures put in place, the company will pay you the stolen amount.

What must I bear in mind with this type of insurance?

Reading the small print is critical in the same way as it is with all insurance policies. You will learn that the legitimate identity theft insurance companies are very concerned about the security of their customer's assets. On the other hand, the less trustworthy companies are more likely to utilize misleading statements and promises to confuse the readers about the services they offer.

It would be best to seek the advice of a competent legal person so you will be fully aware of the terms covered by the policy prior to signing up. This will reduce the chances of serious loss and liability. Let's face it, its bad enough being the victim of a financial crime, without having the frustration of discovering you are not going to be covered by insurance.

Are there any other measures you can take?

Actually, yes! The majority of identity theft insurance companies offer some kind of credit monitoring facility. They make it their business to regularly scan your accounts for unauthorized transactions or other evidence of theft.

Criminal monitoring is another form of protection used by insurance companies which allows them to protect your personal details. Identity criminals and thieves have to have a place to sell the stolen identity details to other criminals who specialize in account looting. Identity protection companies keep an eye on these channels. If your information is found in the criminal marketplace, the company will secure your account immediately.

All of these monitoring features work hand and hand with identity theft insurance and together they assure the customer is kept from being a victim of such crimes.

Is Criminal Background Check a Necessity? - By: HelenGray

Conducting a criminal background check will cost employer and even landlord’s a great piece on their fund’s cartwheel. For employers, a simple background check is not enough to accept applicants likewise to landlords to its potential tenants. They must both need, at most cases, conduct criminal background checks. Perhaps the main reason for such is to be certain that what they hire to join the company or what they accept to live in their property is trustworthy just like what they claim on their resume, interview or with their appearance.

Other than that, what else are the possible and imperative grounds giving justice why a criminal background check is needed?

Here’s a short list why:

1. Negligent Hiring – A check on the criminal records of the person under consideration is the employer or landlord’s preventive measure to steer clear from being sued with negligent hiring. An employer or a landlord can be sued with this lawsuit if they hire or accept person as a tenant with criminal record that later will cause danger and injuries to others be it a co-worker, customer, client, patient or co-tenant. They are held liable for hiring a person with that is dangerous or harmful and that is unfit to do the job. For example, a patient can sue the hospital if one of its staff nurse happen to give him/her wrong medicine that later will cause more injury or illness to him/her. The hospital can be charged with negligent hiring for hiring a incompetent nurse.

2. Violence at the Workplace – Safety in the workplace or in the residence is one of the top priority employers and landlords wants to maintain. An act of violence can cost profit and revenue loss to company which figures rising up to millions annually. A person with records showing past incident of violence will logically be repeated in the future. That’s why a criminal background check can be a deciding factor to hire or deny applicant or accept or reject a tenant.

3. As Required or Mandated By Law – Criminal background check on applicants that will work on a childcare institution, hospitals, and nursing homes are is required by the federal law to be conducted. This is an answer to the growing statistic of child violence and crimes committed against them like kidnapping, molestation and sexual assault. Employers have also a legal duty to ensure a workplace free from any danger or violence. What’s better way to prevent this is to pre-screen all potential employees. That way, any person with violent tendency is prevented from entering.

Whatever the reason applicable for employers or landlords, the bottom line is to be always preventive and safe. A criminal background check is an effective tool to achieve it.

There's A Lot Of Crime In Our World - By: Felicia Mortfield

Crime has been around for a number of years. Unfortunately, crime rates have gone up in the city of Toronto which is very upsetting.

There are different things that people do that are crimes such as : break and entry, bank robbery, murder, gang fights , rape, and people being pedophiles.

Lately, I hear on the news that a lot of people are being attacked by gangs, people being murdered or raped in any way. For things like these kinds of crimes, I believe we should have the dealth penalty in Canada. I don't know what you think of all these things that I'm telling you, but it's very serious.

From what I hear from lawyers a long time ago, before DNA machines were invented on getting evidence, lawyers would say, "What if we got the wrong person and they're accused of something that they didn't do?" The point that I can make of this article is that you can't harm a person until they're proven guilty. Let's say for example, a person was accused of murder and he said that he's innocent that he didn't do it. The police say they had enough proof for the conviction of the person who did the murder. Unfortunately, the wrong person would be executed, and once that is done, you can't bring him back. He's gone already. That's why there's DNA testing today for fingerprints, photos and so on.

DNA is very crucial in this case because this is due to the fact that once the police have the necessary evidence for the convictions of the murder case, then the police are able to catch the person who did the crimes.

It's truly amazing what DNA testing can do for our society in order to catch the right people for these crimes.

Identity Theft - Robbing of the Soul - By: Shirlee Hall

The other morning I had a dream about being robbed. I placed my purse with all its treasures on a store counter. In the brief moment that I looked away, the purse disappeared. With the help of a store clerk, we searched hoping that at least some of the contents as well as the purse would have been quickly discarded. Nothing was found. In the dream, I used reasoning power. I told myself that I was in a dream and there was no cause for concern. When I awakened, the message was clearly understood. If any of us desire to live in peace and harmony, we must pay attention at all times not only to what is going on in our own mind but all activity that surrounds us. Living in a dream becomes a false reality when we are not alert to our own spiritual identity and purpose in living. When we temporarily forget the answers to both questions, we lose important aspects of who we really are. Identity theft occurs because we are negligent and forgetful. To be aware at all times is to be truly alive. We are less prone to mishaps and imbalances if we keep our focus.

Identity theft occurs when we do not know who we really are. This is a serious problem for millions of souls. We have to understand this question before we can answer it. We educate ourselves about how to use the Internet as an example, how to take care of mechanical things, how to care for our bodies and everything imaginable. What about answering the bigger questions instead of being philosophically illiterate? It takes courage to confront what appears as a mystery. A good start is to study sages, true philosophers, who have applied and tested their knowledge in daily life. Another tool is acute self-inspection. With self-inspection and firsthand experience with the inner intuitive voice, an inner authority will eventually surface. The authority is not merely abstract but very practical. What people simply do not get is that they will never transform themselves by accumulating only head knowledge. It will broaden the point of view but the underneath remains the same.

If we begin to understand the drama we are living and can seriously answer the questions, Why am I here? or What am I to do here? - we are less apt to experience identity theft when we know the answers. Why is that? We begin to honor who we are and pay close attention to what is happening within and without. Most people crave understanding but understanding will not happen if we keep looking outside of self. Lack of understanding, which is in my opinion, soul ignorance, generates illusions, attachments and therefore suffering. Ignorance is a sickness of the heart and mind and is accompanied by attachment. We must awaken the god in the soul. We have been given many ways as to how to awaken the sleeping soul. The unfolding of our spiritual nature is as much an exact science as astronomy, medicine or law. It is not a haphazard journey based on a particular faith. It is a sacred science focused on the subject of true identity. The most priceless secret is true understanding. All other things are impermanent. Understanding endures.

Before we can permanently hold on to our true identity, ignorance must be removed. The following are some of the traps that rob the soul of its fullness.
1, When we deny the Light of God, we invite the darkness of ignorance.
2, Refusing to develop a clear understanding of who we are and our purpose creates unbalance and confusion.
3, Jealousy and greed are lethal.
4, To allow enslavement of the body and mind through abuse and harmful habits are denial of the soul.
5, Thinking that intellectual knowledge, books and pretence constitute real power indicates that you have not yet awakened to inner wisdom.
6, Taking upon yourself the task of leading others when you lack pure intention is teaching with deceit.

There are many traps that must be removed to be totally free of falsity and pretense. If you really want your identity back, erase the false designs that you have created and replace them with a higher design. Peace, certainty and victory are established when we awaken to the fact that we already are what we seek. It is up to us to bring the evidence out into the open. Our real identity is secured when we daily accept and live who we really are. No one or no thing can steal this inner nature from us.

Identity Theft...not just your credit ...you could go to JAIL!!! - By: Thomas Kadlec

For years we have been hearing about identity theft effecting personal credit reports, credit card balances and even folks losing their hard earned money. Until recently when cases of Identity Theft have been popping up all over the country and world wide with cases showing perpetrators using stolen ID's and personal information that results in criminal charges for the victim.

Cases have been identified where a minor break-in of a vehicle in a mall parking lot where nothing has appeared to be stolen, end up as a step in a very precise Identity Theft scam where insurance, address, and personal information are taken from the vehicles glove box then lead preying individuals to the homes and businesses of unsuspecting individuals.

An elderly Florida couple commented that "My husband and I have never even been to Ohio however, I just found out that I had a pending conviction of reckless endangerment with a motor vehicle and did not appear to my hearing"....that is when I went for help....

Many criminals that are living among us have regular confrontations with law enforcement and need a fresh ID to avoid being "MADE" under their real identity. These individuals obtain Identification through Fraud and Forgery and eventually are carrying around an id, insurance papers, and registration as some unsuspecting person often times in another state.

The Nigerian investment and cashiers check scam has been identified as a means for criminals to obtain email copies of Drivers License and Passport information as they entice unsuspecting citizens who are drawn by the greed of promised thousands to release personal information via email communications.

If you suspect identity theft report it immediately. If you are interested in more resources on identity theft visit the following:

Background Check Someone Using Criminal Records - By: Jayden Cramer

Trust is the most fragile thing that must be considered in order to build a good relationship to someone else. Once it is broken, you cannot easily bring it back even if some reasons may appear to be valid.

When it comes to hiring an applicant, it is not enough to look on how well a resume is presented. It is the same as in listening to answers that can be heard in an interview. You should know one’s personal background by doing a search if he or she has a record of crimes in the previous years. Practicality speaking, it is not safe to accept a person who has violated the law. A worker’s attitude can affect the company’s reputation. So you must be eager to justify possible employees as early as in hiring period.

To put someone into a position is like taking the risk of giving an important asset that the company holds. You should be careful to appoint staffs in order to assure that a specific responsibility is secured and maintained.

The quickest way to have an overview of someone’s personal history is by using the criminal files. Browsing this online source will unfold someone’s hidden identities and secret activities in the past. A thorough evaluation must be performed in such a way that the workers on whom he will be dealing with later on will continue to maintain the security of both themselves and the company.

Everyday, more and more violations are flashed on the television screens and newspapers. So to avoid this undesired news, you must be closely sensitive to choose a potential employee that will handle the vacant position. Rest assured that if you rely to the criminal background check, the business firm will be in a good condition. As a matter of fact, the information provided by this online source is now considered to be a strong evidence to accept or reject an applicant.

How Can I Access State Criminal Records - By: Jayden Cramer

Hiring an individual for a particular position is one of the most delicate tasks of an employer. To maintain the reputation and security of the company, he or she must choose qualified applicants that can perform a specific task to achieve its goals.

One way to evaluate an applicant is through checking his or her personal information beyond what their resume presents. More importantly, you need to find out if the person has been involved in a certain crime. In order to know this, you must search for the records that may contain such criminal files connected to that individual.

Before, doing this investigation is such a big burden for anyone who cares so much for their valuable time. It seems to be difficult in gathering every specific detail without the total assurance that a positive research will come out that fast and accurate. Some may have been discouraged to continue their research knowing that they still have to gain access with all the 50 states. You must also consider that criminals use more than one name to hide their identity. Thinking about these considerations, it is obvious that greater time will be consumed to process all the state criminal records you need.

But due to benefits of computer technology, many websites have been created to help people especially those employers who wants to gather criminal records in a short span of time. While there are free records of criminal cases online, there are also websites like the criminal background check database that requires a small amount of fee which is proven to provide better service and assures every user to get quality information. By using such online service, much of your time and effort will be saved.

Now, you need not to get a private detective to gather criminal records. By just facing your monitor and clicking the mouse, all the data you need will show its availability within seconds. You need to reach out for the criminal background check database because this will help you decide to whom you can put your trust with. This updated database is a helpful basis in the field of business where convenience and hassle-free gathering of data is achieved to meet our purposes and needs.

What should you do if your identity is stolen? - By: Dr. Jennifer B. Lagrotte, DMFT

When identity theft strikes you, even if you have tried to be safe, then you need to start thinking about how you are going to fix the problems created by identity theft.

The most important thing you can do is to act quickly. Identity theft damage moves quickly, so you need to stop the damage as quickly as you can to keep it from becoming even worse.

First, you should put a fraud alert on your credit report and get a copy of your credit report sent to you. A fraud alert will let creditors and others know that you have been the victim of identity theft. It will keep anyone from opening accounts in your name. To put the fraud alert on your credit report, you need to contact either TransUnion, Experian, or Equifax. The good news is that you only have to contact one of these companies because that company is required by law to contact the other two credit reporting agencies.

There are two types of fraud alerts that you can put on your credit report. They are an initial alert and an extended alert. An initial alert stays on your credit report for at least 90 days. This is what you should put on your account if you are worried you have been a victim of identity theft.
An extended alert is on your credit report for at least seven years. In case you have been the victim of an identity thief, then you will put this on your credit report. The reason is that it will show companies and creditors why your credit may be damaged. You are also entitled to two free credit reports within a year of putting an extended credit report on your account. In addition to that, credit reporting companies will take your name off of pre-approved credit offers for five years.

When you want to remove the alerts, you will need to contact the credit reporting agency that put the alert on for you. You will need to provide them with proof of your identity, your social security number, your address and further information that verifies your identity.

After this, you need to call and speak with the fraud department for the company that has been affected by the identity theft. Send them documents that support the claim that you have been affected by identity theft. You should also keep records of every communication you have with the company.
Also, make sure you put a PIN on all your accounts to prevent them from being used or accessed by an identity thief.

Once you have done this, file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission. If you are sharing your complaint with the FTC, you will be helping law enforcement departments across the country track down identity thieves, thereby helping others who may have fallen in your position.

You can file a complaint online at www.ftc.gov/idtheft

Identity Theives may be Family and Friends - By: John Jackson in LA

Do you feel as if you have taken every step necessary to keep yourself protected from identity theft? Unfortunately, there may be one area where you have left yourself wide open – and that is with your own friends and family. According to the Federal Trade Commission, approximately half of all identity thefts are perpetrated by friends, family members, in-home employees, and neighbors. In other words, half of those who were victimized actually knew and trusted the person who stole from them.

A Mother Gone Bad

Although there are numerous cases of identity theft involving victims who knew the thieves, one such case made national headlines. According to the press, a man by the name of Eric Wagenhauser has been trying to clear the names of his children after his former wife used their Social Security numbers to apply for credit cards. His ex, Ivy Ash, reportedly applied for nine different cards, but was only successful in obtaining two. Nonetheless, she used those two credit cards to run up approximately $1,000 worth of purchases, late fees, and interest penalties.

Although Mrs. Ash pleaded guilty and was sentenced to serve time in a Texas prison, the consequences of her theft have continued to affect Wagenhauser and his family. He and his new wife have had numerous arguments over the situation and are in marriage counseling. Of course, the thievery has also left a bad mark on the credit reports of Wagenhauser’s two children before they are even old enough to fully understand what happened to them.

Protecting Yourself

The unfortunate reality is that you must put just as much effort into keeping yourself protected from those you know as you do with those you don't. Whether you know the thief or not, prosecuting a thief can be quite difficult. Similarly, catching the thief before the damage is already done is impossible if you do not take steps to catch the thievery as soon as possible.

If you are a parent and you are concerned that someone may be attempting to steal your child's identity, there are several signs you should watch for. These include:

• Your child's name shows up on your caller ID rather than the name of the caller
• Your young child begins receiving credit card applications in the mail
• Your child receives phone calls from creditors seeking payment
• Your child receives phone calls from solicitors who are interested in selling certain products or services

If you notice any of these signs or if you simply have a gut feeling that someone may be using your child's personal information to apply for credit cards or other loans, don't hesitate to order a credit report and to check into your suspicions as early as possible. The sooner you address the issue, the less damage will be done to your child's credit history.

Crime victims feel anger, outrage - By: Cindy Hartman

Property crimes make up an overwhelming majority of all crimes. Homes and businesses are equally susceptible to the attention of thieves. And mostly these crimes happen when you aren't there. An overwhelming number of residential burglaries happen during the day when you are at work. And, of course, businesses are most often burglarized after normal business hours.

There are few things more violating than coming home or arriving at your business and discovering your door has been kicked in or a window smashed. You feel incredible anger and outrage when you find you have been the victim of a property crime. And when filing the insurance claim, victims often discover they can't remember everything that is missing.

Advantages of having an inventory:

YOU'LL REMEMBER. We, as business owners of an inventory service company, are constantly told that people don't recover thousands of dollars from their insurance company because they forgot numerous items. Many just give up after months of thinking because of the daunting task of trying to pull all that information together.

PROOF OF OWNERSHIP. A thorough inventory will provide the information needed - photos plus serial and model numbers - often required before a claim will be settled.

REDUCED STRESS. Having all the information in an inventory document will help alleviate the stress and other emotions associated with your burglary. You won't be thinking over and over, reliving the experience, while you try to remember what was in that corner or what was the brand name of our TV.

THE TIME FACTOR. Adjusters tell us that those with an inventory often file their initial claim within 48 hours. Without an inventory, they state it usually takes the full 12 months they have allotted to file - mainly because they know they aren't remembering everything!

When you experience a burglary, there might be a few items stolen, or an entire household. We hear of people who go on vacation, only to return to an empty home. Can you imagine walking into your house and seeing complete emptiness? No furniture, appliances, electronics - even pictures that used to be hanging on the wall are now gone!

If you're making a small insurance claim, you might think the claims process won't be very difficult. But can you remember everything that's in your purse or wallet? Most likely not, so how easy would it be to forget items in your home? And how do you know what was taken if the burglars are selective, only seeking - and taking - specific items? The loss might not be discovered for months, or even longer. Then there's the difficulty of proving ownership. Photos help. Having model and serial numbers with the photos is even better. If the police have recovered numerous computers or cameras, for example, how do you prove which ones are yours? By being able to give them the serial number!

Some burglary victims have figured their loss to be just a few thousand dollars. Even more people, though, have stated they recovered only 30 of what they needed to replace everything. One customer who was burglarized prior to purchasing our service, relayed that he had over $45,000 worth of equipment and furnishings in his business that were stolen. Because he couldn't remember a number of tools and equipment or prove the high end furnishings, he received a $20,000 claim settlement. Where would you get the $25,000 to replace what the insurance company did not?

An inventory won't remove the anger and outrage you'll feel after a burglary, but it will ease the time, energy and stress you will spend compiling your insurance claim. Have you created your home inventory and/or one for your business? If not, consider hiring a local inventory service provider. It'll be done quickly, professionally, and many will update it for you on an annual basis.

How do you prevent identity theft? - By: Dr. Jennifer B. Lagrotte, DMFT

The fastest growing crime, and possibly the defining crime of the 21st century, is identity theft. Identity theft is a problem that is not going to go away, and it is important that you know how to protect yourself from becoming a victim of this terrible crime. By not being a victim, you can keep yourself from having your credit completely destroyed by greedy individuals who use our digital society to their full advantage.

First thing first, you should under no circumstances fall for phishing. Phishing is the process by which a con artist will send you an e-mail or call you, and state that there is a problem with your account and you need to enter in your password and username to fix it. Once you enter this information in on the website, which comes from a link in the e-mail, you will find that you have just given your information to a con artist. They can then use that information to log into your bank account, credit account and other accounts to steal your money and your identity.

When you are throwing your financial records away, do not just put them in the trash. Some identity thieves will actually dumpster dive and take your papers so that they can use them for their identity theft purposes. When you throw your items away, make sure you shred them by using a crisscrossing shredder. This type of shredder cuts both vertically and horizontally so that it is very hard to piece back together.

Identity thieves will also steal your mail out of your mailbox, and even call your billing companies and change the mailing address from your address to their address. That way, they can begin using your information to get credit cards, loans and to destroy your credit without you even realizing it.
Therefore, instead of having your bills mailed to you, you should sign up for online billing so the mail comes to your e-mail address. That way, you will be able to see your bills, save paper, and keep yourself from becoming a victim of identity theft. Practicing online banking and having your bank statement sent to your e-mail address is a very good idea as well. Bank statements are one of the gold mines for identity thieves, so don’t just leave it sitting in your mail box.

Further to that, you should never carry your social security number with you when you go out. Unless you are going to use your social security number for something, you should have it at home in a safe, or in a safe deposit box at the bank. The same applies to your credit cards and other identification items. Unless you are going to need them, leave them in a safe at home so that if you are robbed, you will not lose your important items. In addition, have photocopies, front and back, of all your identification cards and everything in your wallet in case it is stolen.
